Last night I didn’t sleep as well as I usually do, and as I result I was a little tired after waking up. However, I was able to reinvigorate myself almost instantly simply by picturing my goals in my mind. When I think deeply about what I want to achieve, about my lofty aspirations for a good life, I’m willing to do pretty much anything to get there. Lately, I’ve been finding that this is the perfect way to start each day, as not only does it help put things into perspective, but it is also a great way to find motivation when my energy is low. When your routines start to become rituals, when they start to become sacred to you, that’s when you know you’ve achieved something special.

Even though I had a solid breakfast and lunch, I was still pretty hungry at random times throughout the day. When I can’t resist having a snack, I try to make sure that they at least have good nutritional value. Fruits and vegetables are the ideal choice here, as well as beef jerky, but even healthy variants of chips and other classic snacks can actually be detrimental to my diet plan. One of the best things I’ve learned while trying to get healthy is that even though certain snacks are marketed as all-natural, low-fat, diet-friendly, etc., they’re still just treated at the end of the day. Getting nutritious foods into your system should always be the priority.

I know I’ve been losing weight, but I really see how much muscle I’ve been building.

Tonight’s dinner required a lot of time and effort, but thankfully it tasted great in the end (not to mention I had some little helpers as well). I’ve been trying to apply to saying “quality over quantity” to my eating habits, gradually working towards being satisfied by foods in a qualitative way instead of how much I eat. To do this, I’ll have to continue to carefully monitor my portions as well as become more cognizant of flavours and textures of food. Compared to everything else I’ve done on this journey, I’d say that this is relatively easy!
