As I was getting ready to go about my usual routine, a burgeoning thought began to crystallize in my mind. What do we do every day? How much cumulative time is spent taking care of ourselves, time that is by no means “fun”? Comparatively, exercise is far more stimulating and enjoyable than the other routines we carry out without a thought, and it is just as beneficial. If we can spend five or ten minutes keeping up with hygiene, why not spend another five to ten minutes on rigorous exercise? While I just now put it into concrete terms, I’ve found this philosophy to be highly motivating.
Later in the day, I had a scheduled appointment with the contractor to do a follow-up on the roof leak and inspect for any additional issues. Everything was going fine at first, but then the contractor accidentally broke one of our antique vases. He was extremely apologetic, even offering to replace it himself, but I told him not to worry about it. Everyone is human, and everyone makes mistakes, so I wasn’t going to get riled up about it. Kindness goes a long way, and so does responding to situations with grace–high blood pressure is not something I want in my life!

I definitely feel like I getting stronger, but the physical gains are harder to notice.
Tonight’s dinner tasted great, and I even made a healthy dessert to go along with it. I’m encouraged by how well I’m adjusting to my new diet plan, as I’ve been more willing to eat solely plant-based meals, and I’ve even been getting more adventurous with the kinds of desserts I eat. You’d be surprised at how different desserts can taste when they’re free of unhealthy additives, but you overall feel much better after eating them.
