Man the Fuck Up and Just Do it — Day 147

My ankle felt a lot better today, but I still decided not to risk running on it. Better to be patient and come back full force than to rush me into another (probably worse) injury. Instead, I had a lengthy session of mindfulness and meditation, and that really got my mind primed for the day. Although I couldn’t help but feel a bit odd since I was deprived of my usual morning run. I suppose there was simply no avoiding this feeling, and while I didn’t get to run, I did get in some nice mental preparation. In that case, I don’t think I was actually deprived of anything!

The rest of my day proceeded as usual. I actually made some trips to the store on foot, and I stopped to pick up litter on my way there as well. I didn’t even remember that my ankle had been injured until one of my kids reminded me not to hurt myself again. I like to think he was just looking out for me by saying that, but he was probably making fun of me.

Tonight’s dinner was really tasty, but I once again managed to limit myself to a single helping. I’m learning when I’m actually satiated, not just when I feel like I’ve eaten enough. I’m even more proud of the fact since the meal was really good, as it shows just how well I’m controlling my instincts. Obviously, I’m not going to be able to completely re-wire my brain, but learning to own my eating habits will help me maintain good health for the rest of my life.
