Quitting is Easy Moving Forward is Hard — Day 108
It was lightly raining when I woke up today, but I decided to go for a jog anyways. I guess I was still groggy and didn’t really acknowledge the rain at first, but once I got outside I was too determined to back out. It took a while to get used to the rain bouncing off my face, and I was relatively soaked when I got back, but other than that it was a pleasant walk. Rain can be very soothing and cleansing when you don’t view it as an inconvenience.
Surprisingly, I didn’t have many errands to run today, so I was able to get caught up with some reading. I learned that evolution of all things could have been the reason why I used to be out of shape. It turns out that high metabolic efficiency likely helped organisms (such as human beings) survive long periods of starvation, making it a preferred evolutionary trait. The only thing is that people like me in wealthy countries are fortunate enough to not have to worry about food scarcity, so this evolutionary trait is pretty much useless. Oh well. You can’t really fault Mother Nature for my own past lifestyle choices.
Daily Image Year of Change Day 108 #YOC
Another day, another step towards a lean physique.
I had my kids help with preparing tonight’s dinner again, and they really seem to be enjoying it. One great thing about this journey is that I get to share it with my family, as well as show my kids the value of healthy eating and the work that goes into it. If the least I can do is help my kids start focusing on their health early on, then I’d say this journey was a success.

I’ve been snacking on fruits and vegetables less, but I’ve incorporated them more into my primary meals.
