Total Lifestyle Makeover 12 Months — Day 91
I woke up today with a bit of pain in my lower back, something that I’m really not accustomed to. Usually, I’ll be sore in my knees or hip, but I’ve rarely ever had problems with my back. Surprisingly, stretching wasn’t of any help, but a morning full of chores seemed to do the trick! I mainly decided that I would get some things done in the morning since I had free time, but it actually ended up being really helpful for my back. I guess that cleaning up under the bed and hauling boxes around can be a really functional way to get loose.
After I returned home later in the day, my kids asked me if they could go to McDonald’s again. I was initially going to turn them down, but then I realised that it was simply because I didn’t want to deal with the temptation. I’m a grown man; no one is going to force me to eat junk food. No matter what happens, no matter what distractions there may be, the decision to live healthily is completely within my power. Not only did we go to McDonald’s, but we actually sat down inside and dined in (I had a water, of course). My kids were happy, and I was proud of myself–a win for everyone involved.

Feeling stronger and looking leaner one day at a time.
During tonight’s workout, I started thinking about how important flexibility and mobility is for overall fitness. Being strong and energetic will have a limited benefit if I can’t even move around to make the most of it. If this morning was any indication, getting more flexible will take more than some rudimentary stretching before and after working out. I’m naturally going to keep working hard on my strength and cardio, but I’ll look to make a dedicated stretching routine a part of my lifestyle moving forward.
