Up’s and Downs Will Happen to Us All — Day 154
I had today all planned out in advance, and I was sure it was going to be one of the best days in a while. However, my plans were heavily dependent on the weather is nice, so you can imagine my disappointment when I woke up to pouring rain, contrary to yesterday’s forecast. I only let it bother me for a moment, though, and I started my usual routine as if nothing had happened. Having high expectations can generate a lot of excitement, but it can also cause disappointment in the same way. Lately, I’ve been trying to temper my expectations without being overly pessimistic; it’s a difficult balance to achieve, but one that’s well worth it in the end.
I did a pretty good job of keeping my spirits high for the rest of the day. Since I had some unexpected free time, I decided to try out some new foot exercises I had been researching. These weren’t your typical strength-based exercises, but rather a mix between a stretch and callisthenics. I felt it was important to focus on my feet since they are vital in almost every movement, much like the core. Besides, it’s also great to love and respect every part of your body, even the ones that you can’t necessarily show off.

Instead, I had my kids help me with preparing a meal of their choice, so we still all got to spend some quality time together. As it turns out, you’re more resourceful when you’re not dwelling on what things could have been!
