Ways to Turn Your Life Around for the Better — Day 85
I actually overslept for the first time in who knows how long. For the past few weeks I’d been waking up early without an alarm, so I thought I’d be fine without it. Yeah, bad idea. I had to scramble in order to get ready for work in time, and didn’t get a chance to eat breakfast or do any of my usual morning routine. Needless to say I felt nervous about how I would handle the workday.
As I was plugging away at my work, my boss approached me and apologized for yelling at me the other day. He seemed to genuinely feel remorseful about getting on my case when he had no real reason to, and that surprised me a bit. I had no hard feelings either way, but I really appreciated him taking the time to make things right. Everybody makes mistakes, and people usually have good intentions when they go after someone, so it’s no big deal. I’m glad this situation worked out for everyone in the end.
I started getting really hungry about an hour in, but luckily I had a couple of Crispy & Nutty Granola Bars packed to hold me over. During my lunch break, I rushed to get some actual food as I forgot my packed lunch, but I almost ended up getting McDonald’s drive-thru out of habit! I bought a prawn salad and an apple instead, but it was so weird how my hunger sort of putting me on autopilot for a while. Hopefully, this was just a one-time thing.

When I got home I thought I would meditate since I missed out on my usual morning routine. I focused on being more mindful of my behaviour when I’m hungry and flustered–I don’t want to stumble back into an unhealthy lifestyle, after all. Sometimes I feel as if I’ve fully conquered my cravings, but then life humbles me real quick. I think that no matter how much I progress, fitness will have to be something I earn each and every day.
